Darren Jenkins and the Leer Racing Team Stealth/Fontana made a screaming return to the Sydney scene on Saturday night after storming home ahead of Mark Cooper, Mark Brown and Jason Gates, capturing the Bikebiz Speedcar A Main ahead of a jam packed Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway crowd!

Kristian Frandsen #30 and Rookie Racer Paul Bevan #92 led away the 23 car field for the 20 lap A Main before drama struck Frandsen after coming unstuck mid turns three and four ahead of the field. Following close behind, Matt Young, Trevor Malouf, Peter Bourke, Mark Redmond and the current SA & VIC Champion Troy Jordan were caught in the ensuing impact with all but Frandsen and Bourke forced to retire from the race.

Mark Cooper and Darren Jenkins were on a scorching pace during the heats!

Alan Day took the lead on the full restart before Darren Jenkins shot through on the lowline down the back straight for the lead. While Tim Evans and Tony Abson battled for third and fourth, Mark Cooper hit the highline on turn 3 and 4 to pass both Jason Gates and Abson, before Gates slid under Abson on turn 1. Cooper meanwhile remained on the highline; the brave move coming off as he drove around Evans and later Day for the second spot. Mark Brown was on the move passing Gates on the back straight while up front Darren Jenkins began to hit lapped traffic.

With Cooper closing in on the leading Leer number 3, Mark Brown in the Minipicker #37 snatched third place passing Day on turn 2 as the caution lights were switched on; the Carline Mufflers machine of Peter Bourke had hit the infield, sucking the car into the concrete infield wall. With the damaged Bourke towed from the track, the race was reformed with Jenkins ahead of Cooper, Brown, Day, Evans, Gates, Abson, Troy Jenkins, Peter Oliver, Greg Hill, Mark Redmond, Anthony Collins, Brendan Fox and Kristian Frandsen.

Returning to green, Jenkins again shot away from the pack, the real battle beginning behind him between Cooper and Brown; a mixture of high and low lines bringing the packed TPCR crowd to rapt attention. Gates moved under Day for fourth on turn 1 before the yellows were pulled again for debris on the track reforming the pack for a restart.

With only 5 laps remaining, it was set to be a battle of the big guns with Darren Jenkins, Mark Cooper, Mark Brown, Jason Gates and Troy Jenkins set to make a last minute dash for the win. Yet again Jenkins controlled the start with Brown riding the tail tank of Cooper, bucking his car on turn 1 and 2 to avoid contact with the American Tire and Racing Service machine. BOC Gases bandit Troy Jenkins was pushing forward in fifth spot going in hard to turn 3, becoming crossed up through the turn but held onto his top five spot to the delight of the crowd.

Darren Jenkins continued to sprint away with an impressive lead on the field in the Leer Speedcars first appearance on Australian soil for the season, taking the Bikebiz Feature win ahead of Mark Cooper, Mark Brown, Jason Gates and Troy Jenkins.

Our Bikebiz Speedcar A Main Winner: Darren Jenkins!!!

Speedcar driver #85, Stephen Brown was involved in a massive turn one rollover in the second speedcar heat. Riding a wheel after the start-finish line, Stephen was sent into a series of barrel rolls over the edge of the track. Landing on the concrete wall and catch fence after 7 rapid flips, Stephen returned to the pits and was later taken to Westmead Hospital for examination.
