Dubbed 'Super Sid' for his tenacious qualities racing midgets, Sid Whittaker is yet another driver to nominate and sign up for this years Speedcar Super Series. You can well understand why they dubbed him 'Super Sid' after watching his assault on last years Australian title in Victoria when, crashing and rolling over in his heat ending his chance to qualify directly into the feature, he came from the b-main as a reserve driver. A major crash on lap one of the championship saw a complete restart allowing the two reserves in with Sid off the rear of the field, and by race end, there was 'Super Sid' with a third place trophy held high against the best in the country and stars from America standing alongside hero and Grand Marshall Sir Jack Brabham. It don't get any better than that! A fourth placed finish in the South Australian Speedcar Championship and a top ten finish in the Super Series brought to an end a great season behind the wheel of his Mopar #58. With a season's stats. like that, Sid Whittaker will be more than just a thorn in the sides of the established Super Series Stars. There is a distinct possibility that the flying Queenslander will be up on the podium again by the end of the grand final race on March 5 at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. |

Top South Australian midget driver John McKay has confirmed his entry in the 2010/11 Speedcar Super Series and will again saddle up in his Mack Trucks sponsored Stealth/Mopar #5 midget to contest all five rounds. 'Quick-time' (a name bestowed on McKay by his fellow competitors for setting fastest time in time trials) hopes to improve on his third placed podium finish up in Maryborough last year and hopes to take out at lest one round win in this years competition. His car has proven itself in time trials that he certainly has a quick car and capable of mixing it with the top guns, and with a bit of luck his way it wouldn't be a surprise to see him take out more than just one round of the series. "I learnt a lot in last year's series racing with all the top drivers around the country, and I can hardly wait 'til the racing season starts". He said. |

When Troy Jenkins rolls out for his first meeting for the 2010/11 season, and with the possibility of new equipment, he will be celebrating 20 years of speedcar competition. Troy and the very professional BOC racing team is yet another driver to sign on for the Speedcar Super Series. The current New South Wales Speedcar Champion has been ever so close to taking out a Super Series, only to run foul of mechanical troubles, or involved in some other drivers crash. Troy has an impeccable record behind the wheel of the Mighty Midgets, being a three-time winner of the Australian Grand Prix, twice runner-up in the Australian Championship, and second-highest winner at Tyrepower Parramatta Speedway with 18 feature wins, I wouldn't bet against Troy Jenkins and the BOC team taking out this years SSS to add to his already impressive resume. |

One of the first to sign on as a contracted driver with the Speedcar Super Series was current Australian Speedcar Champion Nathan Smee. "I have won our state title, the Queensland Speedcar Championship and the Australian championship, but I have yet to win that Super Series. I'm tired of being bridesmaid to the dog (Mark Brown alias 'Browndog') and this year we aim to take him out." Will you still be driving for Mark Cooper and American Tyres and Racing team? "Yes, and we are just putting together a brand new race car, a new Spike chassis with a new Esslinger engine for the coming season. We hope to take in as many race meetings as we can including all the big shows and every round of the Speedcar Super Series." |

Tournament director of the Speedcar Super Series has released dates for the 2010/11 5-round series starting in Maryborough, Qld. and culminating in the grand final round at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway. "I'm excited that we are running another series during the 75th. Anniversary of speedcar racing in NSW, and it is only fitting that the grand final race will be held in Sydney." He said. Jenkins is confident that all the top drivers will once again sign on for the series from most states, and confirmed that a list of all drivers and teams will be released after contracts are signed and sealed. If last years exciting series is anything to go by with the last race deciding the winner, we should be in for some more breath-taking midget racing in the season ahead. |
